Valorant ultimate tier list ranking | What is the best Valorant Ultimate ?
Updated: Aug 8, 2023
In Valorant, ultimate abilities are a major part of the game. Every agent has a different Ultimate with different use depending on the agent class. Valorant has 4 agent classes- Duelist, Initiator, Sentinels and Controllers. Ultimate abilities in Valorant can single handily change the result of a round depending on their use and impact.
Riot's Valorant is currently the most popular fps game globally, and with constant updates, Riot is releasing new agents almost every month. With 22 agents, Valorant agent choice is quite vast and unique.
*This tier list is according to our opinion and can be contradictory to the choices of others, and is updated for patch 7.02 (August 2023).
Valorant Ultimate ability tier list
This tier list is for only the Ultimate ability of Agents.
S-tier: Sage
A-tier: Phoenix, Kay/o, Killjoy, Yoru, Sova, Deadlock
B-tier: Breach, Skye, Chamber, Viper, Raze, Jett, Fade, Brimstone, Gekko
C-tier: Neon, Cypher, Astra, Reyna, Harbor
D-tier: Omen
From S tier to B tier all ultimates are very impactful. C and D tier ultimates are currently lacking behind the others and in terms of impact, these agents are mostly picked and played for their other abilities, not for their ultimate ability.
In Valorant every agent has a special ability called ultimate, which can be used to turn the rounds and entire games around. Certain Agent ultimates can be more valuable depending on the situation. In this list, we will be ranking the agent's ultimate abilities depending on their overall impact on the game.
Valorant Agent Ultimates Ranking, Best ultimate in Valorant
In this ranking, we only considered the value and impact of the Agent's ultimate ability only, not their overall impact on the game.
22. Omen - From the Shadows:
Omen can teleport to any location on the map, can be canceled by Omen or an enemy during channeling time.
This is the worst ultimate ability in this game and no one will argue about that. While this ult can be good and a round winner in certain situations like a 1v1 , it also can ruin the round if the opposition player can hear it. Most of the players don't even use this ult even if they have it.
21. Cypher - Neural Theft:
Use this on a dead enemy within 20 sec to reveal the location of all enemy players on map.
This is also a more situational ult and is better for lurking players. This ults impact can be generally seen in mid or late round to reveal locations. To use this ult players need to be quite close to enemy body and therefore can be risky sometimes to use during fights.
20. Reyna - Empress:
The fire rate increases, Reyna gets unlimited soul orbs and dismissing will make Reyna invisible and killing an enemy will automatically heal her.
For Reyna mains and players this ult is good but the overall impact for this ult is very low. This ult neither gather information for team nor any other benefits for the team.
19. Neon - Overdrive:
Neon's kit is build around the speed and movement ability. Her ultimate unleashes Neon's full power and speed for a short duration. FIRE to channel the power into a deadly lightning beam with high movement accuracy.
This ultimate feels similar to a no recoil spectre with lesser damage, while this skill feels good in lower elo games, in pro and higher rank games this ultimate doesn't feel any useful. Players instead of this ultimate prefer a normal rifle.
18. Harbor - Reckoning:
Harbor summon a geyser pool on the ground. Enemy players in the area are targeted by successive geyser strikes. Players caught within a strike are CONCUSSED.
Harbor, the newest Valorant agent has an AOE ultimate which will reveal the enemy and stun them. The stun can be dodged easily.
17. Astra - Cosmic Divide:
Astra divides the whole map into 2 areas through a wall. Bullets can not pass through this wall but players and abilities can.
Cosmic divide can be very good for team strats and pro players but in normal ranked games this ult will have 50-50 chance of being good for both the teams. And agents with flashes are very good counter to this wall as they can easily pop flash through the wall and this wall will benefit them more.
16. Skye - Seekers:
Send out three Seekers to track down the three closest enemies. If a Seeker reaches its target, it near sights them.
One of the better mid-round ult, and also good to initiate with on the attacking side. This ult gives a lot of information to your duelists for entering the site. But killing the seekers is much easier, which makes the chance of concussing enemy very less.
15. Raze - Showstopper:
Shoots a rocket that do massive area damage.
After nerfs in the ult orb cost, this ultimate is definitely much more balanced then before. But still, this ult is almost a guaranteed kill if Raze player knows the location of the enemy.
14. Brimstone - Orbital Strike:
Launches a lingering orbital strike laser at the selected location, dealing high damage-over-time to players caught in the selected area.
Good to clear chokepoints and play post plants, this ult can be very situational and map dependent. This ult can be dodged quite easily and getting a complete kill with orbital strike is very hard.
13. Gekko- Thras
FIRE to control & link with Thrash to steer her. FIRE while in the Ultimate to lunge forward and explode, detaining any enemies within their radius. When Thrash Expires, she turns into a glob that can be picked up to be used again after a short cooldown. Thrash can only be reclaimed ONCE.
This ultimate ability shines mainly in the attacking side as the ability to pick up the Thrash again can be utilized in the attacking side very well.
12. Fade - Nightmare:
Unleash a wave of nightmare energy in a big AOE. Enemies caught by this wave are deafened, decayed, and marked by terror trails.
This ultimate has similar area coverage as Breach ultimate and is good in early rounds, site retakes and entering. On paper, this ultimate looks very overpowered but is not that powerful compare to others. Trails can be confusing sometimes when entering a site.
11. Breach - Rolling Thunder:
Sends a massive AOE charge, which stuns and knocks the enemy for 6 seconds.
After the recent buff the Breach's Ult became much better as the new ult now covers almost the entire site, this buff definitely gave the Rolling thunder an edge over Skye's Ultimate. This ult makes entering in a site as a team much easier, as it is almost guaranteed to stun any enemy in the site. Retaking with this ult is also much easier.
10. Jett - Blade Storm:
Equips five knives, which recharges on a kill. Each knife do 50 dmg, and 150 headshot dmg.
After being nerfed so many times this ult's impact has fallen massively. Her knives right click nerf and Jett's dash nerf affected the blade storm massively.
9. Chamber- Tour de Force:
Activate to summon a powerful, custom sniper rifle that will kill an enemy with any direct hit. Killing an enemy creates a lingering field that slows players caught inside of it.
Chamber gets the most expensive weapon in the game to use in his ult, which also slows the area when killed. With the combination of his instant teleportation, this ultimate is deadly and can be used at no escapable angles also. This weapon also has a higher firing rate than the operator which is insane in a good operator user's hand. After the recent nerfs this agents pickrate has dropped significantly and one of the reason was nerfs to his ultimate.
8. Viper - Viper's Pit:
Creates a AOE poison cloud around Viper, which decays the enemy and reduce vision.
One of the best ult in game for defending the sites and post plants. This Ultimate got many buffs in the past which now make this a pretty good ult in game. But there are many ways to make Viper move out of her Pit, that's why we didn't put this ult more higher.
7. Yoru- Dimensional Rift:
EQUIP a mask that can see between dimensions. FIRE to drift into Yoru's dimension, unable to be affected or seen by enemies from the outside.
Dimensional Rift has always been a very strong ultimate ability with the changes in Yoru's kit this ability became stronger.
6. Sova - Hunter's Fury:
Use the bow to shoot 3 long range, wall piercing blasts with 80 damage per shot. The versatility of this ultimate is what made this to rank so higher in this list.
One of the most versatile ultimate in game, can be used for getting a entry kill, post plant, clearing corners and stopping the enemy push. Despite being nerfed to 8 ultimate orbs, Sova ult is still a game changer when you get it.
5. Deadlock - Annihilation:
EQUIP a Nanowire Accelerator. FIRE to unleash a pulse of nanowires that captures the first enemy contacted. The cocooned enemy is pulled along a nanowire path and will die if they reach the end, unless they are freed. The nanowire cocoon is destructible.
This ultimate ability is a very strong ability and has a very high likely hood of a guaranteed kill. Great in all situations especially when the player count is low and you know the position of enemy.
4. Phoenix - Run it Back:
Place a marker at Phoenix's location. while this ability is active, dying or allowing the timer to expire will end this ability and bring Phoenix back to this location with full health.
This ability is one of the best to enter a site, as not only Phoenix can push without any worry, it also gives information to other players. With just 6 ult points, this ult is very easy to get for a duelist and has a lot of impact and value. Despite being one of the lowest picked character in-game, his ultimate is still one of the best in the game.
3. Killjoy - Lockdown:
Deploys a device, which after a 13 second countdown detains the enemies in a very large radius.
One of the few AOE controlling ultimates in the game. Can be used in multiple situations, retakes, post plants, and entering sites.
2. KAY/O - Null/Cmd:
Kayo overloads himself for 12 second and emits energy every 4 seconds in a large radius which silences the enemy for 4 second. The overload effect also increase rate of fire and reload speed. If Kayo got killed during his ult he will be downed for 15 second and can be revived during that time by his teammates.
This ult is very good to enter the site and to make post-plant retakes difficult for enemy. While entering site Kayo with his ult can silence the sentinels which make defending much more difficult.
1. Sage - Resurrection:
Resurrects a dead ally back to life with full hp.
Still one of the best ult from the beta version of the game. After a nerf in total orbs needed, Resurrection is still considered the best ultimate in the game as the concept to bring back an ally in a competitive game is a bit broken.
What is the Worst Valorant Ultimate Ability?
Omen Ultimate: From the Shadows, is widely considered as the worst ultimate in Valorant. There is no need to use this ability in the majority of situations except only in clutch situations for rotating to other sites. While this ability may work well in low ranks to confuse the players and get easy flank kills, as the ranks get higher this ultimate ability becomes more useless.
