EDward Gaming won League of Legends World Championship 2021, defeat DAMWON in finals
EDward gaming defeat Damwon Gaming 3-2 in grand finals of LOL World Championship 2021. Chinese and Korean mix roster of EDG defeated the defending champions and tournament favourites DWG in an insane BO5 series. The grand finals of LOL World Championship had more than 3.5 millions live peak viewers across Twitch and YouTube. EDG's Scout was named as tournaments MVP.
EDG won 22% of $2.25 million USD prize pool which is around $490K USD, but this prize pool will increase in future as per the in game item sales.
This is the 3rd championship for a LPL team in last four years, DAMWON won the 2020 championship for LCK. After this win LPL again established their dominance in global League of Legends scene. Both these teams won their regions respective Summer 2021 events to qualify for LOL World Championship.

EDward Gaming qualified for its first-ever Worlds final after a 3-2 win over Gen.G, while DWG KIA took down T1 in similar fashion, winning their semi-final matchup 3-2. The championship match marks the second consecutive final featuring teams from China and Korea.
EDG came out strong in finals and won the first map to gain an early 1-0 lead in BO5 series. DWG then fought back and won 2 back to back maps and tilted the series in their favour as they gained two tournament points against EDG. But EDG pulled of a comeback in the series and won final 2 maps to win the grand finals 3-2 and took the title of LOL World Championship 2021.
