G2 beat Navi in semi-finals of IEM Katowice 2022, moves to grand final

G2 esports has finally beaten world number 1 Navi on stage. G2 won 2-0 against Navi in semi-finals of IEM Katowice 2022 and moves to grand finals.

G2 will now face the winner of second semi-final in between Faze and Heroic. The grand finals will be played on February 27th, Sunday. Navi finished IEM Katowice with a 3rd-4th place finish and $80,00 USD. They also secured 1100 ESL pro tour points and 1000 blast premier points.

First map of the series was Inferno picked by G2, they had a strong first half of 10-5 score and managed to close out the map 16-12. Second map of this BO3 series was Mirage picked by Navi. G2 again came out strong and had an 11-4 score line going into the second half. Navi managed to tie the score line to 13-13 but in the closing moments G2 manage to push their way through and won the map 16-13 and took the series 2-0.

Behind the big names of Niko and mONESY, the silent killer Hunter became the mvp of semi-finals against G2 esports. Hunter had 1.26 rating and 47 frags across two maps.

In 2021 G2 fall against Navi in many big tournament like PGL major, IEM Cologne, Blast world final, Blast spring final, but this time they finally over come the obstacle of Navi. It was a different feeling for G2 players and organization to finally beat Navi on the big stage and this win will definitely boost the confidence of team in future.
