Velocity Gaming eliminated from VCT APAC Challengers
India's Velocity Gaming are out of VCT APAC Challengers after loosing in group stages. Velocity Gaming were the South Asia's number 1 seed and after winning first game of groups stage were expected to reach playoffs.
After the early elimination of Global Esports from play-ins of VCT APAC Challengers, all the hope of Indian Valorant fans were on Velocity Gaming. After seeing their performance in group stage, it was clear that VLT had potential to pull of massive upsets but they lack the ability to close off the map in crunch time and felt the pressure of big stage. Velocity Gaming finished their APAC run with a 9th-12th place finish and $5,000 USD.
This performance form VLT proved that with some more experience on big stage, the top Indian teams can compete on par with big names in SEA.
Velocity Gaming's journey in VCT APAC Challengers 2022-
APAC 2022 Challengers was the first VCT event for Velocity Gaming and they were clearly the underdogs. VLT surprised everyone after winning their first group stage game against Oblivion Force 2-0 (Icebox 13-10 and Ascent 13-10).
LT then faced Full Sense in upper bracket of group D. VLT were up 9-3 on the first map Haven, Full sense than pulled off an insane comeback and won the first map 14-12 in overtime. Second map was a complete domination for Full Sense as they won Split 13-3 and took the series 2-0.
Velocity then faced South built Esports in lower bracket do-or-die series. It was similar story for VLT, they took a 8-4 lead in first half of Ascent but SBE managed to comeback and won Ascent 13-11. And again the second map was one side in favour of SBE (Haven 13-6). SBE took the series 2-0 and eliminated VLT form the event.
The group stages of VCT APAC stage 1 Challengers has finished and the top 2 teams from each group moves on to playoffs. Full Sense, Persija, Bleed, Made In Thailand, Boom, Xerxia, Paper Rex and South Built Esports are the final 8 teams of APAC Challengers. The top 2 teams from this event will qualify or the VCT Stage 1 Masters and will represent SEA region on global stage.
